Amid the rise in violence in opposition to Asian People and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) within the metropolis and throughout the nation, Queens Theatre is launching the AAPI Therapeutic Circle, a collection of digital areas open to all people who establish as a part of the AAPI group. The AAPI Therapeutic Circle periods might be held Tuesdays at 7pm ET from April 13 to Could 4.
Hosted by Facilitator and Artist Christine Toy Johnson (DEI Committee Chair, Dramatists Guild of America), the AAPI Therapeutic Circle is a protected and devoted area particularly for individuals who establish as Asian and/or Pacific Islander to commune, share responses, concepts, love; rejoice pleasure, tradition, connectivity, and to navigate this turbulent second in our tradition with solidarity and a way of group. This can be a probability to have area to speak, hearken to choices, and breathe collectively.

Christine Toy Johnson is an award-winning author, actor, director and advocate for inclusion. Her written works have been produced and/or developed by the Roundabout, Village Theatre, Barrow Group, Prospect Theatre, Weston Playhouse, O’Neill, Girls’s Theatre Pageant, Ars Nova, CAP 21, Better Boston Stage Firm, Abingdon Theatre Firm, Towne Avenue Theatre and extra and are included within the Library of Congress’s Asian Pacific American Performing Arts Assortment (Playwrights Division). She is an alum of the BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop, was a 2016 fellow of The Writers Lab (supported by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Oprah Winfrey), serves on the Council of the Dramatists Guild and is host of the Guild’s podcast Talkback on Broadway Podcast Community.
As an actor, Toy Johnson has appeared extensively on Broadway, Off-Broadway, in regional theatres throughout the nation and almost 100 tv and movie appearances together with recurring visitor star roles on Marvel’s Iron Fist, Bull, The People, You, Legislation and Order: SVU and extra and is on “prolonged intermission” from the North American tour of COME FROM AWAY.
